Bald eagles reach sexual maturity at ages four or five years old. It is shown by their head and tail feathers turning white. Bald eagle courtship involves spectacular calls and flight displays. The flight includes flying high, interlocking talons, free falling, then separating before hitting the ground. It also includes many swoops, chases, and cartwheels. Sometimes the bald eagles forget to separate before they hit the ground and they will lay there stunned for a couple of hours until one gets up.

Bald eagles copulate on a near by branch after their courtship.Compared to other birds of pray, bald eagles are early breeders. They build nests in mid February and lay eggs in late February. Eggs hatch from mid April to early May.
Bald eagles lay about 1-3 eggs per year. Young eagles start leaving at about 22 weeks and the average life span of an eagle 20 years.
