Woods Indoor Digital Timer Td2200 Troubleshooting
I bought 2 outdoor digial timers for Christmas lights.The mechanical ones, which were easy to set and worked fine, no longer worked.The first one did not work in the first location. I moved it to the second location, and it was fine.By 'not working', I mean.When plugged into the receptacle, A red 'F' shows, which means 'no power'. There is a very small soft button used to make the settings. I can't get the sucker to change from 'F', just like on the first one.I checked the electrical box, no trips. I pluged the lights directly into the socket, and they work, so the receptacle works. I removed the largest light in case it was overload on the timer.I can't figure out why this one worked in the same place as where the other one did, but not this one.
I don't know if I can claim it is defective.(The brand is Woods.)Any ideas?AngelineSpeakeasy Moderatorclick here to emailsemods4@yahoo.com. And one common occurance is the hot and neutral wire reversed. Yes, all are 3-pronged.
And you have the order of working correct.The outlet was installed in this new additon less than 3 years ago, along with all of the wiring for it by a very reputable company.The mechanical ones worked fine. But all of a sudden a light stopped working- I thought the bulb had burned out. But it had not.This outlet is an outdoor one. It is not near water, is protected by a wide overhang, so a G-whatever was not used.I have a G-whatever adapter I used at the other house for the water feature pump, so I plugged that in to see if that solved the proble,I do have a tester, if I can find it after my move. You suggestion of improper connection sounds logical.

Even the best can mess up.I'm going to reset the mechanical ones again - they seem fine as I hear the clicks when the dial hits the little plastic stop-go.
